Keyboard Shortcuts for Power Users

Move between workspaces, panes, Agent Chat, and the command palette without the mouse.

keyboardshortcutsproductivity

imux is built for keyboard operators. Defaults are sensible; many actions are remappable.

This is a practical map—not a dump of every binding. Check Settings → Keyboard for your local overrides.

Prerequisites

  • imux running
  • Optional: customize under Settings → Keyboard

Steps

  1. 01

    Workspace and pane navigation

Create workspaces/tabs with your New Workspace / New Terminal shortcuts (often ⌘T family depending on config). Move focus across split panes with the pane focus bindings shown in Settings. Learn the difference between workspace tabs (top) and surface tabs inside Bonsplit.

  2. 02

    Agent Chat column

Toggle the Agent Chat column from the titlebar or workbench shortcuts (see Customize Layout). Opening chat should not steal the whole terminal column—chat is a right-hand surface.

  3. 03

    Command palette and search

Use the command palette (⌘P / workbench command menu depending on localization) for rename, branch pickers, and power actions. Surface search lives with the terminal overlay (Cmd+F style) for in-buffer find.

  4. 04

    Customize without breaking muscle memory

Remap only high-frequency conflicts with other apps. Export/document your shortcuts if you share machines. After remap, re-check New Terminal and focus keys still work—blank recovery is harder if you cannot open panes.

FAQ

Where is the full list?

In-app Settings → Keyboard and /docs/keyboard-shortcuts when published for your build.

Do shortcuts differ in Zen mode?

Zen hides chrome; recovery controls remain. Workbench shortcuts that toggle chrome still apply.
